The 10-hour College Advising Package is designed to guide students through the foundational steps of college and career readiness — from self-discovery to strategic planning. Using The College Doc and College UnMazed frameworks, students will develop a personalized roadmap that aligns their strengths, interests, and academic goals with future college and career pathways.

Session Breakdown (10 Hours Total)

Session 1 – Getting Started
Students and families meet with the advisor to review academic records, set short- and long-term goals, and outline a customized advising plan.
Session 2 – Self-Discovery
Students complete career and personality assessments to identify interests, values, and learning preferences. Together we interpret results and connect them to potential career fields.
Session 3 – Academic Planning
We map out a four-year high school plan that balances rigor and fit, considering graduation requirements, dual enrollment, and honors or AP courses.
Session 4 – Activities & Leadership
Students explore extracurriculars, volunteer work, and leadership opportunities that strengthen their resumes and reflect authentic passions.
Session 5 – Early College Options
We review dual enrollment, AP, IB, and AICE options to determine the best academic path and ensure alignment with future college goals.
Session 6 – College Exploration
Students are introduced to the “6 Keys of College Fit” framework to research majors, campus culture, and select an initial list of potential colleges.
Session 7 – Campus Engagement
Learn how to evaluate colleges through campus visits and online tours, including questions to ask and ways to assess student life, academics, and affordability.
Session 8 – Financial Readiness
Families receive an introduction to scholarships, Bright Futures, Step Up, and financial aid basics, including strategies to build an affordable college list.
Session 9 – Resume & Portfolio Development
Students build a professional résumé and begin a digital portfolio highlighting academics, service, leadership, and accomplishments.
Session 10 – Strategic Roadmap
In the final session, we review all materials, set summer and post-secondary goals, and create a personalized roadmap for testing, applications, and scholarships.
